It is a great pleasure to let members know the outcome of the 2012 Women’s History Network Book Prize. We had a small but very strong field this year and the panel of judges were given the opportunity to read some original and exciting scholarship. The winner of this year’s competition is Katie Barclay’s Love, Intimacy and Power: Marriage and Patriarchy in Scotland, 1650-1850 (Manchester University Press, 2011).  Congratulations to Katie for a book that the judges commend as ‘an important and original study’, ‘intellectually ambitious’, ‘impressive in its confidence and maturity’, ‘sophisticated in its conceptual approach’ and ‘written with clarity and conviction’.  The prize will be presented at the WHN conference in Cardiff on Saturday 8 September 2012.

Well done Katie!!
