WHS is pleased to announce the winner of the 2013 Essay Prize:
Ellen Filor (University College London) for her essay, ‘Of manly enterprise, and female taste!’ Single Women as Sustainers of Empire in the Scottish Lowlands, c. 1790-1850’
The runner up is Jane O’Neill (University of Edinburgh) for ‘Sex and Socialization: Young People, Sexual Learning and Courtship in Scotland, 1945-80′.
